When passion is combined with enthusiasm and a keen eye for details, the result is a blend of art and colour. Housedelic today presents Indian Yards and its creator Sunita Suhas.
Sunita defines herself as a dreamer and a quilter, whose art work is defined in a line, “India in all its’ glory”. She specialises in Patchwork Quilts, quilted Bags, mobile sleeves, stoles, curtains, cushions and other home decor utility products. While it was motherhood that inspired her to take this venture up, she is inspired by a multitude of Indian art and crafts. She believes that the way to get more people involved and appreciate art is by attending exhibitions that provide a forum for handmade products and showcasing her patchwork quilts.
While it is difficult to choose one favourite personal work, her favourites include the Sunset Quilt, the Namma Bengaluru Quilt and the Blue Rhapsody Quilt. Congratulations are in order when she tells you about her most memorable moment, “Indian Yards Just won 2.5 lakhs from ‘Intuit Small Biz Buzz’. It came at a time when we most needed it.” She also conducts workshops time permitting to increase the community of quilters.
You can find Indian Yards products at Timri, Whitefield, Bangalore.
She can be reached at http://www.facebook.com/indianyards, http://indianyards.com/, firstname.lastname@example.org and you could also call her on 9663144494. So, wrap that quilt, sip your chai and remember every yard is the creation of a fascinating artist.
